IBI currently serves the greater Atlanta area with a population that is majority people of African descent. The organization tailors its holistic 8-week curriculum to meet the unique needs of each woman, with plans for continued engagement through alumni-focused programming. IBI's curriculum is intended to serve as the catalyst for a sustained, supportive community of mental health professionals and women intentionally focused on their mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
Women need a safe space to discuss and learn ways to address life's stressors. It has been proven that preventative mental health education can help, though it is much less available and accessible than preventative physical health education.
IBI educates women through in-person and virtual courses focused on preventative mental health strategies (e.g., boundary setting, interpersonal effectiveness, grief skills, stress management, etc.) and the processes by which to access different forms of mental healthcare.
